Jolie Mack Designs began with modest intentions, just a Canadian Girl making pretty things in her suburb-of-Vancouver, BC basement and then wearing them to work. It didn't take long before other girls started noticing these pretty additions to the first Girls' look. Well, Girl took their advice and came up with a plan to start selling like a gypsy. A small space was created next to the kitty litter so she could keep her crazy bead collection. She set up a reference website (www.joliemack.com) and eventually gathered a few choice retailers who would consign her goodies. That went well.
Today, Jolie Mack Designs has grown. Girl still works alone, but has friends to help when need be. She mostly relies on the cat. The studio takes up more space now and includes a photography centre and a powerful media computer, but Girl is still happily next to the kitty litter. Her designs have managed to be included in various fashion shows, in a couple of magazines and photographed by a few fab photographers. Girl's jewelery has been up for auction at some extremely prestigious charity balls and galas, and Girl receives much satisfaction from the revenue that her jewels have brought to these various organizations. Jolie Mack Designs is very involved in helping other start up BC businesses, giving advice, brand pairing and learning along side fellow entrepreneurs from all walks of business.
Recently, Girl entered the bridal realm with The Perfect Match: Bridesmaid Glam Made Simple by Jolie Mack Designs. She continues to mold both her bridal brand and jewelery to appeal to finicky brides and their fussy maids.
For 2010, Girl decided to take a bold step and create an online shopping presence. She knows she should have done this a long time ago, but she just couldn't find a suitable DIY website. Big Cartel (this site that you are on) offers e-commerce that is affordable and simple. What a solution! So here Girl is, as a cyber gypsy! She still has her choice boutiques, by the way. So far, so good.
New designs are always upcoming. Girl is always creating and assembling and assembling and creating. More boutiques will be added for more exposure. This year will bring some fantastic markets for Girl and the jewelery, and these markets offer a great way to meet new clients and greet die-hards. More private shopping events will be planned for exclusive JMD experiences. Facebook marketing campaigns are always fun and there are sure to be good ones over the next few months (keep checking!) Jolie Mack Designs is growing as fast as Girl can go. She may expand the studio again, but will have to build the litter box right into the design this time. She'll see.
